Health leaders’ survey: footprints, financing and staff morale

The Nuffield Trust has published the results of the sixth survey of their Health leaders’ panel of 100 health and social care leaders in England.

Survey six: footprints, financing and staff morale was conducted in April/May 2016 and received 67 responses.  The survey shows a conflicted view of the system’s prospects over the next five years and beyond.

Some recent developments – such as the ‘footprints’ proposed for delivering STPs and the potential hospital savings identified by Lord Carter – are seen as providing real chances for improvement. However, respondents remain concerned about the continuing decline in staff morale, and pessimistic about the state of finances within individual trusts and the health service in general.
